Neil Davidson Art
I am Zimbabwean born and bred. My art career started at the age of 16 in
Mpumalanga (the Eastern Transvaal) in South Africa when my Dad realised he
would not have enough work for a solo exhibition of his work. He cajoled me
into producing 10 sketches to compliment his work. The exhibition was a
success, and spurred me on to becoming a full time artist, which I was for a
number of years based in and around Victoria Falls and Hwange National
Park. The art lead into a safari business in the Caprivi, Northern Namibia. This
afforded me ample opportunity to observe wild life and a ready market for my
work through my clients.
After selling up the safari business, I returned to full time art. I married and
settled in the Cape for a while. My Silversmith wife and I now reside in the UK,
enjoying a creative way of life. I have exhibited in galleries across southern
Africa and my work has gone to most parts of the world.
I work in various mediums, Acrylic, pastel and graphite. Wild life is a passion
and I love to get lost in the business of getting the atmosphere, light, story and
drama down on paper and canvas. It’s a challenge to be unique in the art
world, I have tried rather to convey the essence of what I have experienced
using what ever medium and technique suits.
I enjoy commissions and have done many, ranging from family portraits to
abstract work. Enquiries are welcome.
